WaPo-ABC poll says:

64 percent found Obama to be more friendly and likable than Romney
54 percent disapprove of the president’s handling of the economy

This picture sort of says it all:

Also, the DNC released an image of a new bumpersticker for this year's elections. I'm not kidding, the DNC actually produced this.

Heh.

8.1% unemployment today. That should be news to celebrate, but everyone is in a sour mood. The number only dropped because 342K unemployed people stopped looking.

This is a novel way to reduce unemployment: just tell the unemployed to give up!

So last night's elections may have been the most entertaining we'll get until November.

In West Virginia:
  • Drudge is pimping that Obama trounced his primary opponent 60-40%. The only catch is, his opponent is Keith Judd, a prison inmate in Texas. He may end up actually getting some delegates.
  • WV Democrat senator Joe Manchin won't say who he voted for. LOL. (Manchin was elected in 2010 and faces re-election this year)

In Wisconsin:
  • The Big Labor candidate (Falk) lost to the "mainstream" candidate (Barrett) 58-34%. Barrett didn't mention collective bargaining once in his victory speech.
  • Scott Walker got more votes (626K) than both Democrat candidates combined (619K)
  • Note: the recall election got forced due to 900K signatures. Where did those (alleged) voters go?

In North Carolina:
  • Voters overwhelmingly voted to ban gay marriage in the state consitution, 61-39%.
  • 21% of Democrat primary voters voted "no preference" instead of Obama (who won the state in 2008 by 0.3%)

Optimism.

I don't want to post about every miniscule movement of a daily poll, but after today's latest, I can't resist noting:

RasmussenAnd CBS / NY Times poll:
  • Romney 46%, Obama 43%.
  • Among women: Romney 46%, Obama 44%
  • The demographic split was: 36D/30R/34I

It's only May, of course, but Obama is in trouble.

Price of gas this summer could be a big deal.

If European economies tank, that could be a huge deal. As stock market crashes, and fears about US borrowing.

But never underestimate the stupidity of people.

Do you have any inkling on what is transpiring this week at the SCOTUS? And how their decision will affect the budget? And how many hours it will take to compile and debate the post-decision budget 2.0? Did Matt Drudge utterly fail to give his sheep the whole picture? I would be shocked to hear of such a thing. After all, the conservative right is the morally upright, virtuous, Christian-based, honest party, correct?
Obama budget is defeated in the Senate again, 99-0.

They were probably still paralyzed by worry over the Obamacare decision, right?

Also in Arkansas, 41% of Democrats voted for primary candidate John Wolfe. He won 36 of 75 counties (although 8 have not reported).

In the Kentucky Dem primary, 67 of 120 counties voted for "uncommitted" rather than the sitting president.

So, we have roughly 40% of Democrats in West Virginia, Arkansas, and Kentucky, who don't want Obama to be their nominee.
