I don't that identifying root progressions is ever easy but this guy makes a stab at it.

Do you write music with root progressions?

I don't think I write music that way (if I understand what you're asking) but I think of music that way. This makes it very easy to play songs for sing along groups, for example. As long as I can 'hear' the melody in my head I can usually find the chord under it. This trick never ceases to amaze the uninitiated, who assume I have good knowledge of almost any song they can think of, whereas real musicians are never impressed. I am sure Farrah, Requiem (where is requiem?) and some others can agree.

That's why I admire you musicians, you're really mathematicians in disguise. However, to be able to do with beauty and precision is amazing to me.
