one of the mullah type brothers, makes a comment, that about caused me to blow a gasket.

May I make a movie recommendation?

Silence. "You gotta see Expelled, it really blows the lid off of Evolution."

I bit my tongue except to comment to my neighboring engineer, "it hogwash."

He replied, "yes."

That may have been a witty moment, but how does one cope with not wanting to offend a faithful, but in this issue misguided brother, while diffusing the misinformation he's providing?

You could have mentioned having read the article where Elder Christofferson was asked about that and what his answer was regarding science and religion. Or any other similar statements from leaders.

The point being you cite a GA ... not just your opinion or arguing with the dude.

Well I have plenty of stuff on the issue of evolution, that's not the issue. Even if I show him the stuff on evolution, it detracts from the meeting.

And this is high priest group. For the most part, nothing I say or quote will change any opinions or minds. It does bother me that the fundies usually have the floor in the Church. If one is not a fundy, then one does a lot of tongue biting.
