Black women and Prop 8
The largest demo against prop 8 by far is black women. They voted yes 75% to 25%
Why? 1. Many attend churches and think homosexuality is a sin; they want traditional family structures. 2. Many are not in the urban elite and don't relate to homosexuals. 3. Another important, but very underlining, factor… This is the highest demo of single mothers in the country. Often fathers are not around – in Richmond, Oakland, Vallejo and Hunters Point. They have not, as a group or community, been able to take advantage of the social stability created by two parent households. As a result, they don't want another possible wedge (real or perceived) in their chances for stable communities (why give men another out), when they have yet to have stable two parent homes in many of their lives.

They arenn't responsible for their own teen pregnancies? Maybe it makes sense these people don't get it why some would value marriage. Sweet irony. Wow.
