Lawyers suing realtors

Heard an ad on the radio while driving around San Diego today. The jist of the ad was:

-Are you losing your home because you can no longer afford the payments?
-When applying for the loan, do you feel your realtor misled you concerning the future worth of your investment?
-Were you not informed of the forecasts of financial recession sweeping the nation?
-Were you not informed of your total bottom line (property taxes, HOA fees, etc.)?

If so, call our firm. You should not be held accountable for the mismanagement and negligence of those "professionals." We will make THEM responsible and help you keep your home.

Is this going on in your neck of the woods too?

Doesn't surprise me at all. As an appraiser, I fully expect to be sued before this is all said and done.

Luckily, our company has a reputation for being very conservative, to the point that it lost us a lot of business during the boom. We can defend every single report we ever sent out.

I have heard this ad, or something similar. am570, during Rome, Dan patrick, loose cannons, PMS.

The other one I hear..."call Lennox Financial.....whether you've been late, lost your job, or just been a human being, we've all had our credit ups and downs....we'll get you a loan with NO closing costs...we'll make plenty of money on the life of the loan..."

No way these suits should get past summary judgment. These lawyers are bottom feeders.

not so fast my friend....I bet many of the folks that respond to that ad (the one in English), all of a sudden will become native Spanish speakers once trial begins.

Those form contracts are all about protecting against this kind of suit.

Silly rabbi.....if you can't read the contract, then it is not enforceable.

And in SoCal, it will be fairly easy to find a jury of peers that will have sympathy for the victims of predatory lending.

These special interest lawyers are the one small class of lawyers that give the rest of the occupation a really bad name.

at least the toxic tort lawyers get it right every once and awhile and save a water table somewhere in some small town.

Lets be honest though, there are appraisers out there who will say whatever someone wants them to. I'm not saying you, but they exist. Hell, I use appraisers as expert witnesses and I know who to go to if I want conservative or not conservative.
