In Alabama, attending 7 football games every fall is pretty much ALL that there is to do. Same with Green Bay. Think about it. People drive from hundreds of miles and make a day out of it.

Isn't this the same in Utah? Or are there a load of alternative activities that eluded me for years?

I would venture there is as much red-necked fun to be had in Alabama as there is in Utah, no?

Perhaps so, but outdoor activities are so much more than redneck activities.

Water skiing, fly fishing, mountain biking, hiking, skiing, etc.

I love to ski and water ski. Used to mountain bike quite a bit in school.

I will pass on hiking, which is a euphemism for "walking around carrying something heavy."

I'm believe hiking is good only if it's done as a way to get someplace to do something else.

You ought to give fly fishing a try. I'm thinking you would enjoy it.

I know that BYU's alumni group is larger. The school is only now reaching just over 20k and the (also, I get the Bama alumni publications and they said that Bama has 250k living alumni, while I read in BYU's alumni rag that there are north of 300k).

As for affluence, it is merely conjecture on my part, butmy guess is that BYU's has greater affluence. For one thing Bama's alumni base is heavily based in West Alabama which is one of the poorest areas east of the Mississippi. BYU has a lot of Californian's with their inflated paychecks, real estate bucks and so forth. Finally, BYU is a more highly regarded school both nationally and regionally, and with that regard comes some (presumed) access to more affluent jobs, etc.

That is my two cents.

what they mean with the "more stuff to do" is that Utahns have more kids and church responsibilites than every where else...

More kids mean "soccer, football games etc..."

There is always some stupid church meetings on saturday that conflict with football

The sec and big 10 dont have these problems

We also don't drink so tailgaiting isnt as fun as it is for them
