I have a friend in San Diego who was "blessed" to get into a foreclosed home 10 months ago, for $335K. Market value at the time was $410K. (The previous owner bought it in 2004 for $580K.) Wow, what a steal, they thought. What a blessing. Finally, a home in our salary range.

Today its market value is listed as what they paid, $335K.

A home is only worth what it can be sold for.
