"So my point is until we can handle the mere 2 BCS teams we play a year, let's don't get in a hurry to schedule 3 or 4." Last year regular season: # of 120 total D1 teams playing 5 or more BCS teams on the schedule: 68 # playing exactly 4 BCS teams: 10 3: 21 <=2: 21 teams including BYU Our company of those 21 teams Army Boise State Brigham Young Central Michigan Eastern Michigan Hawai`I Kent State Marshall Nevada Rice SMU South Florida Toledo Tulane Utah State UTEP Wyoming |

My point is we're obviously not ready to handle BCS competition when we have only won 25% of our games vs BCS opponents under Bronco.

Arguing we aren't good enough to play with the big boys seems weak to me. Utah won 2 out of 3 this year. Are you saying they are more ready to play BCS teams than we are? |

When 99/120 D1 teams play three or more BCS squads, certainly BYU can. Generally my opinion is that your SOS should roughly correlate what you think your expected power ranking will be. So if we think our power ranking 5-10 years from now, which is what we're scheduling for now, will be in the 20-50 range, we should work towards an SOS in that range. That basically means schedule the best four teams we can find. I'll give them a break and let them schedule three + Utah State.

We'll be ready when we become a BCS team and are able to recruit BCS players. Quite simple.

BCS schools are 50% against other BCS schools. Many of them play 9 or 10 in a season. I'm thinking we can play at least three.
