Default Hillary for President

I think now would be a good time for the first female president. Bill was 10 times the president than the moron we have now. I assume Hillary had some influence over Bill when he was president. It seems reasonable that she would pattern her presidency after his. Bill's scandals were not even in the same ballpark as Bush's. What is so wrong with Hillary? The thing I hear most is that she is a lesbian. Big deal. I think it's going to take an extreme liberal like her to undo some of the damage George has done. So let's hear it. What are your gripes with Hillary?

She is a socialist and using her Health Care debacle as an example, her policies would create economic ruin for this country.

You still have a job and probably some sort of savings with the current blockhead in the White House. Not so with Mrs. Clinton and politicians of her ilk.

I don't know about not having a job. I had one when Bill was president. He is going to be a good advisor to her. I consider myself a Libertarian, so I'm not really a fan of the Socialist Democrats or the Fascist Republicans. There is no doubt in my mind that Bush is a rabid Fascist. I'm just hoping that the Socialist will pull us back to the middle somewhere. It's amazing to me how numb the country is to the assault on our civil rights. I guess people are happy as long as gay people can't marry.

She is anti-business, a heavy taxer, a socialist when it comes to health care, and divisive. She has no charisma and holds a grudge.

If they are anti-business, and heavy on taxation, that is a "do not pass go position".

I can see no redeeming political features to her. She is clever, but that for me is not redeeming for a politician because I also believe she is without ethics.

She evokes a visceral reaction from me, because she has no qualities I desire.

She is for more government regulation. She is a wild-eyed feminist, instead a cautious approach.

She detests religionists, except for political purpose. Mind you, I'd be happy with an atheist that didn't detest religionists.

I had a job when Bill was President too, but for most of those years, the Democrats didn't control congress and the senate.

The last time a liberal Democrat was in the White House with Dems in the majority were the Jimmy Carter years. Inflation and interest rates were crippling. A repeat of that would not be good, especially because Mrs. Clinton is farther to the left than Carter was then and so is the majority congress and senate.

I'd rather not have that.

Agreed. Control of Congress and the White House would be very detrimental economically.

Bill was smart in one slogan, "It's the economy, stupid." Hillary has forgotten that lesson. Worse yet, Bill really didn't care all he wanted was to be elected and he allowed himself to be swayed by the Republican controlled Congress. Hillary is a true believer who detests the opposition and will run roughshod over business and the economy, as she tried to do with her health care debacle.

I agree on the taxes, but we're going to have to pay for these wars somehow. As for the health care, pretty soon most of won't be able to afford it anyway. My insurance is already $800 per month. Luckily, my employer pays for most of it. We had a meeting with our insurance provider and they told us to expect premiums to raise a minimum of 10% per year.

I don't have a comment on her charisma, but as long is Bill is by her side, she'll be a hit. Holding a grudge seems to be a common trait. Not a good one, but a common one.

There are other options besides a single payer system; don't fall into that canard. Health care needs tinkering, not grand system overhaul. Anecdotally I am led to believe she is a malicious, devious person. I would choose Nancy Pelosi over Hillary. I would select Ted Kennedy over Hillary.

I don't like Pelosi because I believe she's a putz, but I don't have a visceral reaction to her. Ted Kennedy would be a poor choice, but he is subject to manipulation. HIllary is a loose canon.

I would take Al Gore over George Bush any day of the week. Believe me, that is saying a lot. I am not a Gore fan in the slightest. I don't think Bush could run a convenience store, let alone a country.

I just look down the list of candidates and can't see a single person I would like to win. I don't want a Republican because I'm afraid the extreme right positions will stay the same or move more right. As for the Democrats, the reason I would pick Hillary is because of Bill. I realize that is not a good reason, but it seems as good as any. Isn't there anyone else out there?

Hey the French will soon have a woman President, so why can't we? And with Tony Blair stepping down next month (a hunch), great* changes are afoot.

(*Interpret "great" any way you'd like).
