For the most part I've been happy with the Mountainsmith products I own. They are usually pretty well built and not moron engineered.

The price seems right and as long as it is not overwhelmingly painful to wear, you'll be fine.

The only way it would make a HUGE difference is if you were planning to use your pack several times a year to do very long trips with a very heavy pack.

If I were you I would go with this one http://www.ardensoutdoorsupply.com/p...t-backpack.php

Its got lots of space and I personally witnessed 14-17 year old kids beat the crap out of it for 90 or more days. Lifetime warranties are pretty worthless since they are for the lifetime of the pack.

You will be much happier with an internal frame just because its easier to pack an organize.

If you look around you should be able to get this pack for about $80

Default what size pack to buy?

generally a six pack is good but if you are going to be watching football all day you will need the 12 pack.

I ended up getting this pack with a 20% coupon + free shipping.

lowe alpine contour 80 + 15

I wonder if I can carry enough stuff for a 3day campout, for 2 adults and 2 small kids in this pack. i.e. I'm the only one carrying anything.

Looks like a nice pack.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did it come to after the discount?

I like Lowe products... Let me know how that one works out... I've lost my "in" with the guys at vortex so my next pack will have to be purchaced at retail from a [shiver] retail store [/shiver].
