Because one of my favorite people on the planet has DS, this makes me want to cry. No joke.

All kidding aside, BG, do you think that McCain/Palin have handled their children much differently than Biden/Obama? There may be some small differences (I for one have no quarrel with a parent proudly noting their child is going to deploy overseas, although I can also understand not doing so in a campaign) but didn't Barry trot out his kids? Biden's son gave his introductory speech. Other than the ages involved, I am not sure I see a huge difference.

Agreed, assuming he'd even want to, which I doubt.

A cynic might even say Obama was "worse" because he actually had a video conference call with his kids. Palin's kids just stood there, but didn't say anything. I didn't have a problem with either. Candidates trot out their families. That's just how it is.

My home teacher (the most faithful HT in the ward) has Downs. Sure, he doesn't contribute anything to the tax coffers, but don't tell me he doesn't have any value to his community and to society at large. I've learned a tremendous amount from this man.

Within an LDS theological context, is there not room for giving a spirit the opportunity for coming back under a more positive situation (particularly if the spirit has not yet entered the body)?
