with politicians. "Who me? I didn't say or approve that!" Right. They allow their supporters sling this stuff from both sides while publicly disavowing their approvement.

Since then there have been a non-stop string of "independent" ads slamming Obama, most of them misrepresentations or near-fabrications.

The negative ad campaigns have been enormously successful for McCain. Obama can either take the higher ground and, unlike McCain, stay true to his word to keep a "respectful," substance-based discourse, and subsequently watch McCain run away with the election. Or, alternately, he can try to stay competitive and start throwing his own ads out there. It seems he's decided to go with the latter, having given permission for pro-Obama 527s to form for the first time last week.

You can read the entire speech, but the text is of course archived on a "pro-Obama" website.

Obama was outlining the importance of teaching Kindergartners stranger-danger techniques to avoid sexual exploitation. McCain calls this "sex ed for kindergartners."

That's certainly the Obama line. The truth is, the bill he supported didn't draw such distinct lines and the door was left open for such education to occur.

McCain's ad is definitely a stretch, and certainly not in the spirit Obama claims to have had in choosing to support it. But it's not an outright lie, any more than implying that McCain "refused" to define honor because he is dishonorable. Welcome to American politics, Obamoonies.

Obama (with your help) put himself on this pedestal. No one should be surprised to find him tumbling off it face first.

Again Cali, please provide a link. And not something from Obama's website.

Saying it doesn't make it so. Here's Jim Geraghty on the particulars.

She did oppose it, and killed it. If your side wants to run a Kerryesque "for it before she was against it" ad, be my guest. But the truth is, she did kill the project.
