Default A little about the one they call Cougjunkie

I am 24 years old and have been married for 3 1/2 years. My wife is actually due with our first child (a girl) Jan. 1st. I was really active in the church until about 17, and then my family went through some financial difficulties and i sort of blamed the man upstairs. So for the next 4 years I did not step inside a church (maybe to play basketball once or twice) but that was it. About a year ago I realized something was missing in my life and decided to go back. I have never been happier in my life.

I love BYU sports, spend way to much time on the internet, and am scared as hell about becoming a dad. Other than that I am a pretty normal guy.

Oh yeah and Fusnik I can bench 225 about 18 times, of course I weigh 285lbs.

Welcome junkie.

Congrats on the new baby-to-be.

There's nothing to be afraid of with a new one. We all go through it. You lose a little independence and perhaps a little sleep for a few months. But it is the best, especially when they hit 2 or 3 years old.

You lose "a little independence?!?!?!?!" How about it being like chaining a semi-trailer to your ankle. At least that's what it seemed like to me.

I remember bringing our first one home and sitting her on a chair, still in her infant car seat, and suddenly wondering "what the HELL have we done?!?!?"

That didn't stop us from going for it three more times. Fatherhood is great. And I agree, 2 to 3 is one great age; everyday is an adventure.

Welcome Mr. Junkie. You're going to love being a father.

Religion rises inevitably from our apprehension of our own death. To give meaning to meaninglessness is the endless quest of all religion. When death becomes the center of our consciousness, then religion authentically begins. Of all religions that I know, the one that most vehemently and persuasively defies and denies the reality of death is the original Mormonism of the Prophet, Seer and Revelator, Joseph Smith.
