Default Redstate : NRO :: Anti-Romney : Romney

NRO has an article that points to many worrisome statements by Gingrich. Redstate responds in kind.

One gets the sense that the well-heeled intellectual conservative pundits are in Romney's corner, while the NASCAR storm trooper conservative bloggers are very anti-Romney.

Gingrich and Romney are both pretty flawed candidates, but given the choice, I'd have to pick Romney.

I loved Newt in the 90s when he lead the revolution, and I still respect him as an "idea" guy, but he'd make a terrible executive. And I can never forgive him for that awful ad with Pelosi.

That's a good way of characterizing Newt, an idea guy, a stump speaker and money raiser. But you don't want him to head your ticket.

I have the idea that the National Review is still smarting from the blowback of their endorsement of Romney in 2008. That it did not help Romney, and it damaged NR's credibility.

One gets the sense that a number of NRO people like Romney the best, but they don't want to lead the charge and be out front. So you get these articles that hint towards Romney, but don't come out and say it.

And that's what gets redstate and places like that so pissed off. They hate Romney.

It's very interesting how this is playing out.
