More on the restoration of delegates saga, and the ensuing fracas. Via the Corner:

Quote:
The Clinton campaign is seeking to have delegates restored in Michigan and Florida. Both states lost their convention delegates for scheduling their primaries earlier than the DNC wished. The Clinton campaign claims they are only interested in ensuring greater popular representation, so it's just a coincidence that the move would work to Hillary's advantage.

Kind of quaint to see the Democrat party disenfranchising its own voters.

NAACP head and professional racist Julian Bond calls on Howard Dean and the DNC to seat Michigan and Florida delegates by playing ... (cue scary music) ... the RACE card.

Quote:
In a Feb. 8 letter to DNC Chairman Howard Dean, NAACP chairman Julian Bond expressed "great concern at the prospect that million of voters in Michigan and Florida could ultimately have their votes completely discounted." Refusing to seat the states' delegations could remind voters of the "sordid history of racially discriminatory primaries," he said.
In addition, while out driving I just caught a bit of a Karl Rove interview on Hannity's show. He's smacking his lips at the prospect of a Detroit Free Press headline:

"Obama to Michigan: Drop Dead"

Funny stuff.

Harold ickes, Clinton sycophant, speaks out on the Florida/Michigan delegate issue. Powerline comments:

Quote:
But the Michigan and Florida delegations aren't "contested." There is no question that under the DNC rules, which Obama relied upon, they are not to be seated. The Clinton camp now wants to change the rules after the game has been played. For Hillary to say, "[t]hat's why there are rules," is a mind-bending Clintonism of which even her husband would be proud.

All of this is music to the ears of us Republicans. It's hard to imagine a worse train wreck for the Democrats than a convention at which Hillary snookers Obama out of the nomination by changing the rules to seat delegates from states where Obama didn't campaign out of respect for the DNC's sanctions. But I'm pretty sure it won't happen. The Democrats put up with the Clintons' strong-arm tactics when they didn't think they had a choice. Now that they do have a choice, they aren't likely to let shady dealings by the Clintons destroy their chances for victory in November.

PAUL adds: I agree and would add only that I doubt the Clintons' strong-arm tactics and shady dealings ever particularly bothered the Democrats. If the Democrats were somehow to conclude that it is in their interest to snooker Obama out of the nomination, they would do so in a heartbeat. And many might well be inclined to do so in a scenario where it is unclear where self-interest lies.
Kinda puts a cap on the Democrat caterwauling about disenfranchising voters, doesn't it?

Still riding this pony?

You really don't have much to go with these days, do you. Not since your party decided it was nothing but a sham.

Are you saying that what Mrs. Clinton wants to do is not a problem?

It is bothersome, but it isn't a problem in the sense that there is a 0.0% chance that what she wants actually occurs. It isn't shocking she wants to seat those delegates and get them to vote for her. Almost any politician in her shoes would hope for the same thing. But it won't happen, so I am not at all worried about it.

Fair enough.

Personally, I think this is just Mrs. Clinton doing everything she can to quench her thirst for power. She's a sore loser and thinks she is entitled to the office of President, so if she has to cheat to win, she'll do it.

I'm just taking notes for when the Democrats start accusing Republicans of disenfranchisement again. Sham party or no, at least we gave our sham members in the nation's 4th and 8th largest states a sham voice in our sham policies.
