Why is it illegitimate to think that Jessop is a conscientious objector to what he saw as unjust treatment of one of his colleagues? It's a reasonable inference and it doesn't make anyone a conspiracy theorist to ask the question.
Maybe he did.

I always suspected you were feminine and tried to cover it up by wanting to be called Tex.

It's not that ... if women get the priesthood, then hopefully it means I can get out of some callings.

Tex, are you going on record saying that you are a man? Are you comfortable leaking that much personal information?

You know, based on how much Tex has posted about sports, he may in fact be a she.

Let's say Jessop resigned as a matter of conscience. What happens to him if he tells the press it was a matter of conscience?

I hate to think what would happen to the good man. On the other hand, part of taking a stand, is people knowing what it is your standing for. If no one knows, then you didn't really take a stand.

This is an instance of brain drain. Like Michael Young winding up as president of Utah and not his alma mater, BYU. Apparently Jessop had more prestigious options, but did this out of love for his (presumed) faith. Would Rex Lee today ever associate with BYU, rejecting Ivy League and NY/ Chicago law firm options and great wealth? I kind of doubt it.

This is exactly the problem to which Mike refers. Too much materialism in The Church.

Religion rises inevitably from our apprehension of our own death. To give meaning to meaninglessness is the endless quest of all religion. When death becomes the center of our consciousness, then religion authentically begins. Of all religions that I know, the one that most vehemently and persuasively defies and denies the reality of death is the original Mormonism of the Prophet, Seer and Revelator, Joseph Smith.
