I'm not aware of a single person who left the church after coming here. As far as I know, our resident apostates came here that way. If anything, I think this community reinforces the idea that the tent is big and there is no need to leave it.

I'm not aware of any either, but you think they'd advertise it?

I can't think of any reason they wouldn't. Of all the fallout a person experiences over that decision (and I can only imagine it is enormous) I would think the judgmental gaze of some on CG would comparatively small. Heck, I think such a person would be a minor celebrity for some.

If nobody has left the Church as a result of the Guard, has anyone's faith been weakened?

You should do a poll, Levin.

SU's faith in his lack of faith has weakened.

I'm not sure. But I do know that spending time here forces you to modify your views on certain things. Since I view faith as the ultimate act of free agency (a choice) I think folks are only weakened if they choose to be.

If one really had never run up against JS polygamy/polyandry, seer stones in hats, Adam-god, kinderhook plates, the priesthood ban, blood atonement, BOM historicity issues or what have you, they certainly didn't need to look here to learn about them and would have encountered them somewhere. If something along those lines weakened faith, I don't think it has anything to do with the nature of this community.

Not sure how to do one. I'll just watch someone else do it.

The moral of this story is that legalized Gay Marriage in Norway and in Massachusetts caused your friends to all leave the Church.

Chronicled earlier the resignation of several families while serving in the bishopric. Still see other socially, have in depth historical and doctrinal discussions with a scholarly perspective. Much deeper and more well documented than standard anti fare. Can no longer rationalize the totality of the historical inconsistencies. 5th generation LDS wife/YW president read Compton, now ready to resign. I am not ready for cultural reasons. Angry at the lifelong whitewashing of the truth. Last Sunday's FT meeting was eye opening. Six testified of JS, only one of Christ.
