The problem, according to my daughter, would be that one should not wear white after Labor Day. Big time fashion faux pas.

Hoya,,,for once you and I completely agree on something and I've no idea why more steps haven't been undertaken.
Of course BYU fans are among the lamest around too and that's why they won't wear blue or white to the games.

I mentioned this awhile ago on CB, but I think they should have something called The ABYSS. It would be a huge section where one had to wear blue to enter and ABYSS would stand for Awesome Brigham Young Student Section.
Of course, awesome is rather Bill and Tedish, but I can't think of anything else for the A. |

You want to know why the administration does nothing about improving sports?
They are MUCH more concerned with making sure BYU students are reading the Book of Mormon, paying their tithing, shaving their stubble, and wearing knee-length shorts. THAT's why. I had a conversation tonight with a BYUSA member. He happened to notice that I was wearing my BYUSSR tshirt, and we got a conversation going. I told him I didn't think the goals and aims of the BYUSA organization was in line with what it ought to be. He asked if I had read the charter, which outlined the aims established by President HOLLAND. I also remarked that it was a somewhat silly thing that the student government body would concern itself with the Book of Mormon challenge it gave to the student body-- a challenge, he replied, that was a response to direction given by President SAMUELSON. Wonderful, isn't it? The student government association is very responsive to the student body it represents, serving to fulfill the wishes of the students-- as told to them by the administration. Pathetic.

the only way they're going to make changes is if people stop coming. With a built in fan base, a place for students to go for social hour, and the blue hairs, that just isn't ever going to happen.

The tool for this is already in place.
How many T-shirts does Macey's give out each game? All you have to do is go and throw a ball through a hoop and you get a shirt. I don't see why it would be so hard for them to use blue shirts instead of white. If the cost is greater for the colored shirt, don't put the stupid picture on it and just have the Macey's logo. That would be the place to start in my opinion, getting coroporate sponsors that are already on board to begin seeing blue.

You could mix it up, have one half of the stadium wear white and the other half wear blue. Might cost a lot of $$$, but if you save it for just one game (maybe the first game of the year) fans will like it enough to start doing it on a regular basis.
Even before UFN did anything about wearing red to games, Utah fans generally have been good about that. It does get more difficult in the later months when the temputure makes it nearly impossible to go without a coat (the BYU-Utah game in '04 was way cold), so you'll have less red than at the start of the season. |
