Heaps appears to be separating himself already

The other guys can't launch it like Heaps. We don't need a weak-armed Qb.

I don't know that you start a true freshman at QB if he is going to go on a mission after the season is over.
Or do you? |

If Heaps is going to go on a mission, I think you split QB duties. Kind of like Florida and Chris Leak/Tim Tebow. I realize splitting QB duties is a disaster for most teams not named Florida, but I think this will be a 4 loss season for BYU either way. We could take advantage of Heaps arm and take advantage of Riley's mobility as needed. At least we have a (potentially) decent running game to anchor our offense. But Heaps has too much potential to not take advantage of, even if it is at the expense of other QBs. He could at least come back from a mission with some experience.

You win for this season with the best you have. I doubt the other QBs can help BYU win.

I was flamed over on CB for suggesting that Heaps might serve a mission. Still, you ask a good question. Assuming that Heaps does serve a mission, could Bronco start him then start the search for a starting QB all over again? I think it could work, myself, as long as Nelson isn't a consideration to start as a senior in 2011. I don't think Bronco would want 3 new starting QBs in 3 years. |

I don't have a link, but I thought he has publicly stated that he's not going on a mission.

Bronco has said that Heaps and Riley have "slightly" pulled ahead of Lark.
So where is Lark going to transfer to? |

Neither Nelson nor Lark are college qb material. Their arms are simply too weak to cut it at that level. I didn't like what I saw in Nelson last year. Heaps will be named this August starting qb, in part because he's good and in part because the others suck.
