Meaning of last weekend's debacle
BYU, a team with arguably the best quarterback in the MWC and expected to challenge for the MWC title, played Arizona, a perrenial Pac 10 doormat maybe inching its way up. Utah, a team with most of its players back from last year's strong finish and expected to challenge for the MWC title, played UCLA, a perrential Pac 10 power that lost most of last year's team to graduation but in any given year is probably near the top in the country in terms of talent nucleus. Both BYU and Utah were on the road. BYU lost a close one and Utah got killed. What I take form this, especially from Utah's poor showing, depressingly, is that a large gap remains between the Pac 10 and the MWC. We're not in thier league. Being in the MWC is a curse.

Yep. A curse that has gotten worse with the advent of the BCS.
