Default Hooks injured

Appears to be the Patella tendon. Was carted off the field.

Patella (kneecap) slides up towards the hip with a patella tendon rupture. The injured person can't bend the knee and can't stand up on the leg, as the knee cannot lock into the standing position.

Check out this link for info on it: http://www.arthroscopy.com/patendrep.htm

The length of time required for casting or bracing is usually a minimum of 6 weeks followed by several weeks of rehabilitation.

Looks like we just lost one of the likely 1st-stringers for this year at LB. He was participating in non-contact drills with the 1st team, went up for a pass, fell, and was landed on.

He is out 6-8 months, he will not play this year.

I hope he has a speedy recovery; injuries suck! Fortunately, you guys have a bit of depth at LB.

Was that officially announced? I haven't seen anything official come out.

A Tendon strain could allow him to return for fall. If it was a rupture, he's likely out at least 6 months, which would put him back potentially for the second half of the season. Yeah - I don't think it's likely he'll play this year either.

Does anyone know if Hooks redshirt as a Frosh was due to injury? As I understand it, in order to qualify for a medical redshirt & get a sixth year of eligibility he has to have redshirted due to injury already....so if he simply redshirted, without injury, he can't get a sixth year.

Thanks! And yes, we have some depth. Unfortunately, Hooks was shaping up to be a MAJOR playmaker, and was probably the third-most experienced ILB on the squad.

I hadn't heard this.

Bauman & Doman are both listed as 1st-string, and both had relatively good in-game experience last year.

Ah You just returned from a mission, and we get another returnee this summer.

Masi Tuitama is playing Spring ball after finally enrolling in January. He's been making some noise in spring.

Brandon Ogletree returns this summer.

We have three Fresh LB recruits, I believe, coming in this summer.

We also have plenty of OLBs who may be able to make the switch to the inside.

This is great news, that certainly casts doubt on Mendenhall's mullah-like aura (according to some).
