Default An Elderly man hit 2 woman in the crosswalk in front of my work

I've seen the 2 that were hit at work before, but didn't really know them. They were coming back from a training class in the building across the street when the old man didn't see them in the crosswalk until the last minute. From what I hear from people who saw it, the girl that is in critical condition has pretty bad head trauma and was unconscious. One of the policemen said that they didn't think she would make it. The other one just has a broken leg. Just another case of old people being dangerous behind the wheel. (only somewhat tic)

That is awful. If there is anything positive to this, it would be that one will survive.

I have to admit that this doesn't bother me nearly as much as the elderly driver/pedestrian accident last spring in which a kindergartener and her dad were both killed while in a school crossing.

I came sorta close to hitting a young man the other night.

Red at intersection. I stopped. Looked to my left, then turned right. It was dark, and so when I turned back to face the direction I was headed, there was a kid on a skateboard in my lane (yes he was on the wrong side of the road, with a grass median between the two sides of the road). He was about 20 yards away, so I managed to swerve out.

He's gunning for a darwin award.

Anyway that's terrible news. I hope the best for the head-injured lady.

Old people driving pisses me off. The suck at it, they lack awareness, and their reflexes are slow.

Russell Weller is a 90 year old dude who plowed his huge Buick through the Farmers Market at 3rd Street in Santa Monica a few years ago.

He only managed to kill 10 people and injure over 60 others in the span of 10 seconds, so he got probation.

The judge even admitted that he should go to prison, but since he was about 90, it would be a waste of taxpayer dough.

He did not give up his drivers license...even as a gesture of remorse.
