The people that have power in this country are a small tightly-knit highly inter-connected group.

Where is this *not* the case?

The amusing aspect of this charade is the media's complicity in perpetuating a fraud upon the ignorant masses to persuad them that one cog of the connected networks is more favorable and linked to their concerns.

How can anyone assert that Obama is *not* different?

* Humble origin, his single mom on welfare
* African American (I wonder if he's ever been pulled over for DWB. The ratio for black males is pretty high. Even my wife got pulled over!)

At least when Obama states he knows what ordinary Americans are dealing with, he can speak with some authority, actual experience.

what part of his life was "ordinary"? the part where he lived in Indonesia? the part where he lived in Hawaii and attended an elite prep school? the part where he went to Columbia, Harvard, UChicago?

The guy doesn't even speak (diction-wise) like a normal human being.

If he wants to call himself African-American, that's his business, but that's his personal invention.

Ma'ake, I won't even take your bait. Not your best work, look at Mike's response. Obama's part of the aristocracy and has been for a long time, most of his life. He's no different than the Bushes, possibly a bit of hyperbole, but Indonesia, private prep school, Columbia, Harvard law with book deal, and Kenyan origins, this guy is no man of the streets, unless you mean Wall Street and Sax Fifth Avenue. He's a fraud in that sort of invention, you've been drinking his cool aid too long.

Mike's full of shit, for the most part.

This is all just a rehash of the Obama-the-elitist argument. Weak argument - compared to every other national politician out there, except Palin - Obama is no worse, and better than the silver spoon crowd.

Hell, for that matter, Harry Reid.... uh never mind, I'll leave Harry out of this one. lol

He's part of the group, Harry that is, but he did have much more humble beginnings than Obama and didn't become part of the elite, until Georgetown.

Obama has not had a simple man's life, has not led a common man's life, and is an elitist, just one with whom you are in agreement. IOW, you like most of liberal left are a hypocrite, and fail to recognize it. When a politician is your brand of elitist that's okay, but when he's the other guy's brand, that's not okay.

Elitism is a weak criticism, except if a politician is claiming to be "one of us." Then it's appropriate, and Obama is NOT one of us, but one of THEM. Perhaps it's necessary to be one of THEM to succeed, but it's inherently dishonest.
