Question Kitchen range

I need a new electric kitchen range fast. Just a standard, freestanding 30 inch model. We had a fairly new, but low-end one in the house we moved into about a year ago, but it keeps needing expensive repairs (motherboard's died twice in the last year) and we don't like it much anyway. A quick look shows models from about $500-$2500. What's the difference? My budget is about $1200. Anything to look for? Anything to avoid? The one I have is a Kenmore and it's a lemon so I'm avoiding them.

Personally I like GE. I used to build homes for a living. In 2005-2006 I built close to 60 homes. We used GE because we never had issues with them. The last thing you want are warranty issues as a homebuilder and I can honestly say we never had any homeowner issues with their appliances. We used the GE Profile line. I think it's their best line, better than their more expensive Monogram line which don't warrant their price.

I think we discussed appliances before and personally I'd stay away from Kenmore as you plan on.

+1 on the GE. We have this one.

No problems whatsoever. We paid just over 1k for ours. The double oven is very nice.

Mrs. Trout was in a hurry so we went to RC Willey last night and bought this one:

We talked to a guy who repairs appliances. He said he almost never sees problems with the Kitchenaids. It seemed to have a lot of features for the price as well. We'll see.
