Default Parental permission

My stake is doing a trip to Nauvoo for the youth. They are requiring signed parental permission and a signed code of conduct.

That's a good thing.

The part that I find a bit strange is that they are requiring each of these forms to be notarized. I'm curious on how that is going to go.

My Dad's stake took all of their youth on a trip to Nauvoo and they had a challenging time that turned into a wonderful experience for their stake. Good luck!

I think every stage does it now. My former state did it at least twice in four years.

I just think the notary requirement is odd and unnecessary.

How weird. Is there that much of a problem with forgery(to go to Nauvoo of all places) among the Church's youth, I wonder? Perhaps it's something that the Church's legal dept is requiring now.

The stake is now backtracking on the notarization. Telling us to not to bother on one of the forms, and then also trying to decide if the medical form needs to be notarized or not after all. It sounds like the request for notarization was an edict from on high, and they are saying they are trying to find out why it was asked for.

I can tell you. There's a stupid lawyer in a position of authority somewhere.

What's next? Biomarkers and fingerprints? Sealed with blood?
