Default If you were Obama

Would you take the oath of office with or without the middle name?

Isn't the oath supposed to be taken with the legal name?

If Obama is concerned about his middle name, he never should have run for President.

They talked about this for a minute on The Chris Matthews show yesterday. They played clips from presidents since FDR. Some used the middle name, some used the middle initial, and a couple of them did neither (Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan did it just like that).

I know it's trivial, but I don't know what I would do. Seems like he'll be criticized regardless. I guess I'd just go with the name myself.

And I probably woudln't go with the Koran, Mike. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

God forbid we ever have an actual Muslim run for office in this country.

Eight years ago I was a missionary on the day of Bush's inauguration. In fact I didn't realize it was that day until visiting with an elderly couple who we had been asked to fellowship and reactivate, and they had their TV tuned to Rehnquist and the oath. The senior lady was not a Bill Clinton fan, to say the least. She kept making remarks like, "so long, Dragon!"

I wonder how many heart attacks will be had out in Lynchburg on Jan 20.

I would use the middle name to irritate Shawn Hannity and Rush Limbaugh.

Exactly my feeling. I will be disappointed if he doesn't.
