They have to learn the play, do the play, live the play themselves, and then one day, they will be leaving stage right, and they will be tempted to yell to stage left, "do this" or "do that".

And it's then they understand, at least, the motivation of the old fogey who shouted out to them long ago, at the beginning, when all was new.

I don't mean it as something terrible, or something wrong. I'm not saying it is bad or evil. I'm not saying it won't be good and wonderful. I'm saying, it will be what you deserve. And that's really as good as we can hope for, any of us. Exactly what we deserve, no more, no less. Not everyone gets that. It would be an unfortunate life, where the lessons learned were not commensurate with the efforts made. The sun rises on all of us, the good book says, and such is true.
And let me just say this is some of the most puffed up, presumptuous piece of shit I've ever read. Know-nothing; funny you'd presume that anybody would be listening to your director calls. You're no director, nor are you an actor on the stage. Your a snotty-nosed miserable man lobbing spit-wads at those who are actually on the stage.

Security? Please escort the hobo out.

You'll be getting exactly what you deserve as well.

As far as I know, I've never made a colleague cry through piggish behavior.

But the fact is this: awful people who do awful things don't feel awful, because they never had the insight to know anything about awful in the first place.

AA has 100x the potential you ever had. The angels may weep for AA at some point, but you might be lucky to get a sniffle.

Security? Security? The hobo just soiled himself and is soaking spitwads in his excrement to throw at those on the stage. Please escort him out.

More sweeping diagnoses from the doctor. For whom? Nobody knows for sure, but we all suspect they're for his miserable, self-loathing self.

Too funny: a bunch of narcissistic guys with exaggerated sense of import accusing one another of hubris.

same old song -- just a drop of water in an endless sea.
all we do crumbles to the ground though we refuse to see...

CG used to have many lawyers who no doubt are able to give AA all the advice he needs to replicate their very fine existences.

The problem is that AA is made of a different material than them. It's like using your damascus steel to make a tent stake.

Life is too complicated for Waters to try to condemn you to an unhappy, hellish existence. And understand that the diagnosis he imparts always has a piece of himself in it.

Don't let the cracked-up psychiatrist place doubts in your mind or puncture your optimism and excitement about your future. You've got plenty of reasons to be optimistic and excited.

You oversimplify -- again. There are tent stakes in every profession; there are steel locomotives in every profession. But continue to diagnose and oversimplify -- I understand it's your job.

Some people were meant to be truck drivers--that's fine. Others weren't.

You will note that I am not terribly skeptical of Babs becoming a lawyer (she can make of that as she will, whether that is a compliment or an insult).

I've known AA since he was an internet pup. That might not give me the right to express skepticism, but certainly, he can value your vapid well-wishes above my skepticism.

Backpedal and dissemble.

You have generalized, categorized, and boxed things up just so.

Perhaps you could have been more specific, then, in your advice to AA. The most specific thing you've done to apply your advice to him is to use a poor metaphor.
