Default Saw "The Departed"

Caught the late Saturday showing.

Great performances. Typical Scorsese fare. Gruesome violence and wall to wall language.

It was fine, but wouldn't care if I saw it again.

Caught it this weekend as well. Wasn't that impressed. The acting was fine. Matt Damon drove me nuts. But Leonardo and Jack were spectacular. Jack Nicholson is a badass. I love that guy.

I guess a bunch of the hype I heard ruined it for me as my expectations were very high. Too much going on at the end for my tastes.

I thought Alec Baldwin was good too. I laughed out loud at his "I love the Patriot Act" line.

I mentioned it before, but I really really liked it. Unlike you surfah, I thought Damon was terrific in it as well as Leo and Wahlberg. Baldwin was very entertaining as well. Nicholson can drive me nuts but he kept it pretty much under control for this flick...

The acting was great, although the movie had absolutely no redeeming value whatsoever.

I recently saw The Aviator for the first time. I was very impressed with DeCaprio. I had no desire to see the movie when it was released because I though of Leo as a little kid/pretty boy and couldn't picture him as Hughes. But I thought he nailed the part. I have a newfound respect for Leo. The guy can act.

Maybe it was more his character than the acting that drove me nuts. Is there a more annoying accent than a Boston/Providence accent?

Having grown up in a law enforcement family the portrayal of cops and their interactions really bothers me. There is no way in hell that a precinct operates like that.

Agreed...I used to despise Leo...especially after Titanic, but the guy certainly has proven he's got the acting chops.

Many of my favorite movies have no redeeming value. I.e., "guy flicks".
