Default anyone ever cooked with a tripod?

You know, where you lash three sticks together to make a tripod, then hang a pot down from the tripod with a rope or wire, over the fire?

I imagine you have to be a bit careful not to burn the tripod or the rope.

I may have my scouts try this on our campout. We're going to do a dry run tonight.

No, but it sounds interesting.

If you're worried about the rope, just have them start the fire from scratch using only stuff they gather and a flint and steel. Like some of the competitions at district scouting events where you have to build a fire high enough to burn a rope about 18 inches above the base.

Most scouts are lucky to even get a flame, let alone one that goes higher than about 6-8 inches.
