Default Conversation in the Waters household

Wife: "Sister X's daughter just turned 31, she lives at home and has been attending the singles ward, so now she has to come back and be in our ward."

Me: "Is she fat?"

Wife (irritated): "[pause]. Well she's not thin."

The curse of the over-weight persons. By way of information, a family in my old ward were all over-weight but it seemed to mushroom, with the parents being over-weight and then the children becoming morbidly obese. Yet some how obese people find people to marry. This fact continues to astound me.

And most Mormons don't imbibe beer.

you know those Bishops we have heard about on CG and other internet sites--that told the fat single sister to lose weight when she asked how she could find a husband. And how that was a horrible answer.

I would be another one of those Bishops.

I'm very practical. Rarely would my first answer be "pray for it." My answers would be things like "Get a job." "Apply for a job." "Lose weight." "Move out of your parents house." "Stop giving money away to your grown kids." "Get rid of cable/satellite." "Sell your car and get something cheaper."

Nothing drives me more crazy that people who endorse victimology and do nothing about it. I'm not speaking of this sweet spirit of course, the one mentioned above. As far as I know, she might want to be a spinster.

A wise teacher once told a class of singles at institute: "You have to become the person you want to marry." Pretty good advice.

Unfortunate for the zealous ones who mistakenly turned to transsexualism as a result.
