Default The hilarity of the A&M Joe Pa incident

So a yell leader (which is a army corp of cadets guy who has been elected to lead cheers during football games and wears all white), makes some crack about Joe Pa being near his deathbed and needing a "casket".

You can see his fancy getup and comments here.

But what is hilarious is how hard A&M nation has taken this. No group of fans prides itself as being classy and above the fray, i.e. the only fans to never boo their team (though this was recently disproved under the Fran regime).

They are beside themselves. Ash-cloth, rent clothing, 3 days mourning, etc. It is hilarious.

btw, if Joe Pa were to coincidentally die before the game, or during this next game, the entire A&M nation would self-immolate.

I like JoePa's responses:

Quote:
"I think everybody has to take things with a grain of salt," Paterno said. "Some young guy went up there, trying to be funny. Maybe he's accurate, I don't know."

"I honestly didn't hear it, and I don't particularly care about it," Paterno said Friday. "Sticks and stones will break your bones but names will never hurt you."

They shouldn't worry about it. I'm sure JoePa has already forgotten it.
