So there is a good chance BYU will not make the post-season this year.

I was struck by how small and young the BYU players are. All like 5'10" and 175lb. In such contrast to MLB players who look like monsters relative to them.
BYU hasn't made the NCAA's in about 15 years. Getting where they are this year mostly with freshmen and sophomores is a pretty good accomplishment for the program. They've also been plagued by injuries this year, especially to the pitchers. If they hadn't lost their #2 starter for the season about halfway through I think they're a lock for the tournament right now.

As it is, D1baseball.com still has them still in the field of 64. That's probably the most respected site out there for college baseball. I think they make it if they can get to the championship of the WCC tournament because getting wins against Gonzaga and SMC will improve their rpi, which as of this morning is up to #48.

Of the four teams in the WCC tournament BYU has the best offense, and it's not close. But all four teams have an excellent #1 starter. After that, Gonzaga has a pretty good #2 guy but for everyone else, anyone after the #1 guy is nothing to write home about. That's why I think BYU's bats can win this if they can win the first game. It should be a very competitive tournament.

SMC: Corbin Burnes (9-1, 2.06)
BYU: Michael Rucker (11-0, 2.58)
Gonzaga: Eli Morgan (10-1, 3.14)
Pepperdine: AJ Puckett (9-3, 1.07)

They were on ESPN2 or ESPNU the other night playing Santa Clara. So that in itself is a sign post.

Yeah, I watched. First ESPN game for them in many years, I believe. It was nice to see that, especially with almost all the seats filled. The announcers frequently talked about how great the venue and atmosphere was.

The current RPI's of the teams in the WCC tournament:
Gonzaga: 30
BYU: 48
St. Mary's: 69
Pepperdine: 84
