I know the Reids pretty well and they held such acrimony for him that I could never fathom.

The guy, warts and all, could flat out coach. Utah will never enjoy basketball prominence because it owed entirely to Majerus.

It was RIP Utah hoops when they canned him.

Those morons at the U should honor him in a significant way.

I remember rooting for Utah in the national championship game. That was before I had really absorbed the idea that BYU and Utah were rivals. The Majerus Utah teams were a good barometer for BYU, and were worthy rivals.

But it also seems from what I have gathered, that Majerus was in many ways a vile, despicable man. On the other hand, he could be gregarious and generous. And he was an excellent coach in terms of results.

Imagine if Bobby Knight had been grabbing testicles and mocking a deaf player and everything else? Makes Knight seem like an innocent boy scout. Majerus could only be Majerus in Utah, in a backwater school that was willing to tolerate this. And eventually even they couldn't tolerate it. And their program has sucked ever since.

I think if I were a Utah fan, I would have a lot of mixed feelings about Majerus.
