Default The Big Love email that is circulating among LDS

Frickin hilarious.

I think just for kicks I will email CNN and ask if they'll do a piece on Mormons "grassroots" campaign to get Big Love off the air...

>(Hi All: I received this message from Dee Heit, and have verified it. If
>you wish to contact HBO about this new program, follow the instructions
>below. George) HBO's new series, "Big Love", is about a polygamous
>family and is set in a Salt Lake City suburb. About the likely impact of
>this sexually
>driven show, the New York Times said, "We may never look at Utah and think
>white bread again."

>Parodies of beliefs of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

>personal revelation from the Holy Ghost by dramatic visions that the

>There is a brief disclaimer stating that the polygamists don't have an

Wow, that IS hilarious. Besides the fact that almost every "negative" they listed was nonsense, they don't seem to understand that complaints from non-viewers aren't going to bother HBO. 700,000 emails from actual NBC viewers is a far cry from 700,000 emails from a bunch of non-viewer Mormons who don't even know what they're angry about. These lame grass roots email campaigns are embarrassing and would only give Big Love greater viewership.

BTW Mike, did you actually get the email? Or did you have that TexasTechCougar guy boardmail it to you?

I'm sure I'm going to hear about how Satan is attacking the church through the media on Sunday in Elders Quorum.

I of course will say nothing, no matter how outlandish and untrue the statements are.

Well, Big Love hasn't bothered me a bit. Of course, I don't have HBO so I haven't seen it. I doubt I'd watch it anyway if I did have HBO. Things like that are of no interest to me.

Apparently, the free agency given to us by the Almighty kind of zoomed over the head of you EQ Pres, eh? You ought to at least point out that they don't have to watch it.

If the Lord feels it's an attack on the church, those doing the attacking will have to reconcile that at a later date.

I don't have a problem with people protesting a show.

I think protesting in complete ignorance, using misstatements, is not really a good use of ones time.

I have one relative, my dad's cousin, who sends out these SPAM emails to everyone. Jokes, political stuff. It's all very annoying. So he sends out this one about some gay stuff, and my brother gets it, and my brother fires back a strongly worded reply (CCing everyone of course). My brother is gay, as I have mentioned before.

So whenever I get an email like this, I'm always tempted to scandalize everyone. Usually I don't.

I rarely, if ever, read an e-mail that has been forwarded like that. It annoys me that it would get through my filter, which it has on the few occassions that one of my friends would have sent me from a trusted account.

And true, people can protest if they want, though I don't see what good it does when all one has to do is ignore the situation, especially if it really doesn't or shouldn't affect one's life.

My favorite is the "letter to the editor" that is supposed to be originated by Paul Allen (of Microsoft, owns the seattle seahawks and the trailblazers)

The only way that I even see this having any relevance to me would be if they showed(mocked) something truely sacred, like Temple ordinances or the like. Absent something like that, I just don't care.

In the last episode, one of the more traditional polys, was wearing the old-time-full-body-climb in through the butt-hole and button up-full-sleaved-down to the ankles, garments. I don't have HDTV, so I could not see if the marks were present. Would that be enough to get your ire?
