Default ESPN.com

Yesterday the Rockies advanced to the WS. Winning 14 of their last 15. What is the headline story on ESPN.com ('the worldwide leader in sports')? A story about the UNC mascot that will be featured on ESPN’s new 'sports news' show. uhh, ok. I'm sure the UNC story is a nice one, but it's just more evidence of the whorification of espn. What's next? An espn 'real world' or ‘survivor’ series that gets pimped during MNF?

ESPN died the day that ABC/Disney purchased them.

I really wish I could find a better resource. Particularly for CFB. Yahoo is superior in some ways, but the game trackers require internet explorer, so no go. The scoreboard also doesn't list the teams' records and whatnot.

ESPN's scoreboard is perfect, except that it is very slow and sometimes locks up my browser. That and they really have gone more corporate whorey than I would like to support. I wonder if SI has a decent system.

Great avatar 8BR.

I really like a lot of things about ESPN. Their game productions are usually excellent. I like their shows that focus on analysis, Inside the NFL, Baseball Tonight and the NBA show. They have some great sports people. But I can't stand the fluff; Budweiser Hot Seat, Around the Horn, 4 Downs, Steven A. Smith, Who's Now? and the like. The only debate show I like is PTI, and that's because Wilbon is thoughtful and Kornheiser is funny.

ESPN Ombudsman addresses this issue:

I'm going to add "Romney in 08" on the back and start selling them to the unsuspecting.
