Since the All star break Utah is 13-11. The Spurs on the other hand are 20-3 since the All-star break and 1 behind Phoenix for the 2 seed.

I am as amazed as you are. I thought the Spurs MO was to tank when a top-notch big man prospect was going to be available for the draft. Was it just because Oden isn't 100% in the draft that they decided not to tank?

Your jealousy is showing right now. David Robinson was hurt that year, as was Sean Elliott. No reason to rush back when you are out of the playoffs anyway. Besides that they still werent the worst team in the NBA. The ping pong balls fell their way. That is why its called the "lottery"

Can you explain the Jazz passing on Tony Parker for the other euro PG that is no longer in the NBA (I wont say his name because he doesnt deserve to be on the same page as TP) or how about the Spurs finding Manu in the second round?

The Jazz will always struggle to win when they decide that Matt Harpring should ALWAYS guard the hottest player that is athletically superior to him such as Salmons and Rashard Lewis. Seriously, I thought both sides were just going to walk off the court and let them have their way with poor Harpring. I love Harpring, but after about the 9th straight basket by Lewis, I would have put Araujo on him to just bust some heads.

Salmons turned in an all-star performance on Harpring's head the other night.

As much as I love Jerry Sloan and think that he's a great coach, the one aspect of his philosophy that I've always disagreed with and still do is his stubborn refusal to defend the 3 point line.

I can understand doubling down in the post on occasion when you've got someone like a Tim Duncan, Dwight Howard, Shaquille O'Neal..etc...etc...but those kinds of players are the exception, not the rule when it comes to the threats in the paint. Instead he's content to let the Ray Allens of the world shoot 3 after 3 after 3 uncontested. Then afterwards blame it on his 2 guard like Giricek for not being fast enough to switch from the double team and get in the guy's face who just took a shot. I hate to break it Sloan but the Giriceks, Harprings and Fishers of this world just don't and can't cover that amount of space in that amount of time.

Watch the Jazz play the Spurs and if the Spurs wanted to...Bruce Bowen down there in the corner could shoot 32958028309253052 3 pointers all day and never have a guy in his face if they chose to do that.

I love Coach Sloan, but that's a philosophy I just can't agree with.
