Superbowl MVP
They gave the sb mvp to Eli and he's not undeserving of it but I don't think that he was the single greatest reason that the Giants won. He did a nice job not screwing it up via interception and led the last minute game-winning td drive but he did not exactly light up overall. Remember, the Giants only scored 17 points.
No, the mvp, in my opinion, has to be on the defense. Particularly the defensive line. It was that torrid pass rush that kept hitting & sacking Brady all game and forced him into several bad throws as well as a lost fumble. They made the 17 points scored stand up for the win against a team that had just set an nfl scoring record. I know that its not traditional to give the mvp to a group but I say follow the lead of John Madden in the '90 superbowl when he gave the mvp to the Giants ol. The mvp should have gone to the Giants defensive line.

If Eli's last name wasn't Manning he would not have been the Super Bowl MVP.

You guys are so screwed for the next couple of years. The Giants and Cowboys will return very strong and Philly is always tough. That's a brutal division.

I have sentiment for the D, but it is MV Player, not Players. Of all the Giants, Eli stood out more ever so slightly.

I'm sorry but I disagree. The defense did the lions share of the work and Eli got the trophy. Eli did well but that d-line was the reason for the win as it made the 17 points that Eli and the offense put up sufficient for the victory. Holding the all-time season scoring record holder to 14 points is a major accomplishment to the point of absurdity. And I did cite a precedent although I'm sure the guys doing the choosing didn't know or didn't care.

The Redskins problem is that they're always restructuring their cap because they spend spend spend to get players and as a result trade draft picks and tear up old contracts. Which is what I suspect they'll do this off season when they trade for Chad Johnson. |
