Look at the number of championships and NCAA victories prior to 1990. Since that time Majerus took the Utes to amazing heights. I think Utah has a better tradition, but if they descend then they will probably look more like New Mexico. I think that they have a higher upside than New Mexico.
I don't consider it to be an insult to be compared to New Mexico, they have had a very solid program over the years. |

I seem to remember only last year where U fans would constantly harp on BYU fans for living in the past when it came to football....of course I guess when you're counting Conference Championships that means BYU in football is in a whole different league than the rest of the Conference. Then again that would be living in the past wouldn't it?

Also on their Bball team the Utes don't have better talent that BYU or many teams in the conference this year.
I seriously question Giac's recruiting. Luke Nevill and Curtis Eatmon are the only two players on your roster I would take.

Maybe you'll get to go to the NCAA tournamant this year. That would be fun for you. Maybe someday you'll win an NCAA tournament game. There's nothing wrong with dreaming.

The only folks who put down the importance of tradition are losers who don't have one. In the end that's all you've got. And it is a very big deal. As soon as the season ends, that's where you are. Tradition is not just the past but the future as well. It makes the future. That's why the Tar Heels came back after Doherty.

It is an effort in futility to argue with Santos. When your opponent lives within the bubble of BYU, there is no possible way to convince him that life outside of Provo exists.
Just smile and nod your head. He'll always be happy as a zoob.

I am not discounting Utahs basketball prowess, but Rocky does have a point, History is only important when it benefits your argument. I will admit i am guilty of it as well. With that being said Utah has had two down years in a row in hoops and BYU has had two solid years.
In regards to history, Utah has the most B-ball history in the conference barnone and other than the elite CBB teams some of the best in America. I do agree with Santos though, you do not have a natural recruiting base, and you do get a lot of teams leftovers. Which makes what Majerus did even more amazing.
