has cougarguard discussion replaced sunday school/priesthood
for anyone else?
im telling you it has for me.... the discussion here has led me to almost an hour a day of personal study, whether it be scripture, church book, internet study in addition to my personal scripture study that i try to do every morning.... i find it difficult to find spiritual satisfaction because i get so much more spiritual enlightenment through participation here.... this happened to anyone else? does anyone not go to their other classes? i have been to elders quorum once in 2 months and thought it was the biggest waste of time. i go to most of sunday school every week but find myself saying to myself, 'thats a mistruth, thats not accurate, thats too simplistic, etc'....and find that abstaining is more fulfulling than participation.... |

I wouldn't say that it has replaced my gospel doctrine study, but it has definitely changed it. Especially considering we are getting into the old testament where there are some meaty topics coming up. I don't find myself simply "reading" the lesson so much as turning to other resources for more info on that and related subjects.
I wasn't able to attend GD this week, but looked forward to hearing the report from my wife on the Cain discussion. I was hoping to hear all about people's personal encounters with a large furry man roaming the Pacific Northwest, complaining about how miserable he was and how much he hated the rain. Unfortunately, there were no such stories, thanks to a skilled and wise teacher. |

Eq is hard for me. For whatever reason I have a hard time concentrating fully on what the teacher says. I listen to him but I'm just not 'into it(at least most of the time).' As far as SS goes, I know EXACTLY what you're talking about. It just drives me nuts when everone starts up with their man-bashing(or other comments that are just plain stupid and irrelevant) as well as their little doctrinal tidbits that seem to serve more to distract from the point then add to it. Our GD teacher is usualy pretty good at keeping it in check but I am still amazed at the verbal stupidity that some display when given a sniff of a chance.
