You've got to be absolutely kidding me. Would you like to further expound on this brilliant analogy you've created?

I feel a white shirt/brown shirt analogy coming on.

You must have never had to deal with a person in authority who had no idea what he was talking about. Hope your streak continues.

Okay, here is my damage with all this: on the one hand we have the serpent on a pole, that story about the people who Joseph "suggested" should not stay behind at Hans Mill, and a hundred other stories to the effect of "we should be obedient to every word from authority down to the smallest detail because you never now when it might save you."

On the other hand, we have countless examples of dunderheaded statements and instructions coming from authorities ranging from Brigham Young down to the young men's president in your ward. Everyone by now has had a few head scratching moments upon hearing what such and such said. When we hear these things we all remind each other than our leaders are human beings who are not inspired at all times.

So we should always be obedient even when we don't understand it, except for when we shouldn't pay too much attention because the fallibility of our leaders is shinging through. There is a fun principle to try to apply.

Here is UtahDan's take: Everything you need to know to make it back to live with God is contained in the 4th article of faith. Anything not directly contained there that is even tangentially related to your salvation is a very straight line to one of the things contained therein. Things like white shirts, facial hair, etc are the modern equivalents of only taking a certain number of steps on the sabbath, not swallowing your spit when you fast, not eating off of a cracking plate or any number of other things the Pharisees were up to that Christ described as looking past the mark.

I did not realize that I was in fact being a string puller. If someone came up to me and told me I had to wear a white shirt, I would of course spit in his face and tell him I will never be a part of your damn church again. On second thought it probably would just do what I'm told. Luckily no one has told me to wear a white shirt.

Also goatnapper be kind to your fellow Ute fans, it is only a matter of time before I am sending you the proof that will make you a Ute fan.

He is indeed a yewt who attended school in Ann Arbor -and we all know the only good thing to come out the land of maize and blue was the opponent to deliver the Lord's university a National Championship

Just wear the white shirt already ... even the brethren admit to it being a cultural courtesy, so be courteous and wear white!
