Custom is where it's at. Try Empire Tailors in Hong Kong. They are great and cheap using Egyptian cotton. I love their shirts.

website is www.empiretailors.com
so how much, on average, is a shirt?

I tried to do a mock order, and it didn't give me a price.
Watch him respond with "If you have to ask, you can't afford it."

Religion rises inevitably from our apprehension of our own death. To give meaning to meaninglessness is the endless quest of all religion. When death becomes the center of our consciousness, then religion authentically begins. Of all religions that I know, the one that most vehemently and persuasively defies and denies the reality of death is the original Mormonism of the Prophet, Seer and Revelator, Joseph Smith.

For a $100 you can sometimes get three to four shirts, during specials.

I buy the Egyptian double ply cotton, so I don't know.

Give eBay a try. A few months ago I won an auction for four brand new Ralph Lauren dress shirts (called "blake" style) for $32.

Here's the thing, there's no better feel than tailored clothing for a reasonable price.

Tailored clothing can be purchased for less than name brand non-fully fittting clothing.

My experience at Empire. Most of my life I've adored Armani clothing but never actually bitten the bullet. I've come close, but couldn't justify 1800 dollars for a suit, no matter how stylish.

So I'm in Hong Kong drop by this store, and there's a special of two suits, five shirts and ten ties for $800 US. The suits are Super 120 wool silk blend, the shirts the best you can find, and THEY FIT.

Or I could buy for twice that one suit that will be recut to fit and is not as nice.

You decide.

I second the Hong Kong clothing idea. I have friends who have gotten very sharp tailored suits in Hong Kong for about $250 each (about half the price they would have cost in the U.S.).

I'm going to check out that web site and see what I can find. Thanks.
