I would love it if she became a media darling.

I have followed Mia Love's blog as well and think she would be an excellent Congress-woman.

It doesn't surprise me in the least that the church took down her "I'm a Mormon" video as they cannot show anything that would be construed as supporting a political candidate.

It was glaringly obvious at GC with zero references to the current presidential campaign, even though this is probably one of the single most pivotal events in church history in the past 75 years.

I have it on good authority just from a discussion this weekend that church leadership is very sensitive to potential anti-Mormonism emerging as a result of the Romney candidacy. They are likely to be more cautious politically than they have ever been.

what does "sensitive" mean? I take it that means they are in full retreat and crossing their fingers that no one says anything that isn't nice.

That's my word, not anyone else's. I think they are preparing for a flare-up of anti-Mormonism. And I think they are adamant about staying out of the election.

Of course there is going to be a flare up. There already has been.

And not only will they have to deal with the negative perceptions of non-members, they will also have to deal with members who are exposed to these things for the first time. And all the attendant fall-out. That's what happens if all you've ever heard is the correlated version of the church.
