The Mariners are the greatest.
Ken Griffey, Jr. started his career in Seattle and had his best years here. Randy Johnson became the Big Unit in Seattle and arguably had his best years here. He had multiple all-star appearances. The Mariners drafted Alex Rodriguez out of high school and he became a mega superstar in Seattle. Ichiro Suzuki has spent all his career as a U.S. player in Seattle.
Four of the greatest players who ever played the game. First ballot hall of famers who have firmly established their place in the pantheon alongside Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron, Micky Mantle, Ty Cobb, Willie Mays, Nolan Ryan and Steve Carlton. None of them is on George Mitchell's list. George Mitchell's list is a proud moment for the Mariners franchise. These four men are now garganchuan stars as even never before.

I changed my post to say first ballot hall of famers. What I meant.

THIs shows the hypocrisy of sports. Lance Armstrong never tests dirty yet everyone assume she is becasue most/all of his successful contemporaries were dirty. Seattle players aren't named and even though they competed favorably with other Big leaguers, SU and othre fans are preared ot give them a pass?

I also note that George Mitchell attended Georgetown law.

I just scratch my head that people care about baseball at all.
NFL, with parity, is a far superior product. |

If you don't care about baseball you're not a genuine intellectual. You need at least to feign a passing interest. See George Will columns re the Oriols. What other sport has hired an Ivy League President as its CEO? (It will be interesting to see if this unspoken rule changes with the recent disgrace of baseball.)

NBA has the best parity. New York Knicks are the most atrocious franchise, and the Utah Jazz are perrenially strong. What more could you ask for?

BTW, I agree about Will. His columns about my Os are some of the best columns out there ever written.

I think someone has vastly overrated Ichiro. He is not one the greatest players to play the game. Additionally, I think you are confused with putting Nolan Ryan on that list. |
