Galatians 1:15 in KJV, NRSV, and GNB
KJV: But when it pleased God, who seperated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace,
NRSV: But when God, who had set me apart before I was born and called me through his grace TEV (A translation striving for dynamic equivalence used in the Good News Bible): But God in his grace chose me even before I was born, and called me to serve him For our language scholars: I understand that Paul may be contrasting the idea of him being set apart for the Gospel of God (as also in Romans 1:1) with the derivation of Pharisee from Hebrew, "pharash," or "separated." Please comment. I've scribbled it in my margin and can't recall the source.
