Default Obama: babies are a punishment?

Don't worry, Obamoonies, he'll brush this off like everything else.

I heard the whole quote in context. He said he wanted to teach his girls morality but that if they made a mistake he didn't want the punishment to be an STD or a baby. He wanted abstinence taught along side contraception.

I thought he made a very good, very nuanced point there. I agree with it. On the other hand, this is exactly what he is doing to McCain with the 100 years business so not a ton of sympathy here.

Seeing how I am in the middle of my third pregnancy, I can see how this could be perceived as a punishment to a teenage girl who unlike me, may not be looking forward to the end result.

Seriously? You are going to take issue with that quote as if it is a big deal?

Yep. You can be pro-abortion if you want, but portraying children as a "punishment," just like AIDS or any STD is a "punishment" for teenage sex is just crazy.

It is hard to argue that, taken in context, a man with two children is arguing that having children is a punishment.

It is technically possible that he meant it that way, though.

The lack of any attention to this issue seems to indicate that nobody really cared. Except the Catholic News Agency. And Johnny Lingo.

Lingo, I didnt even know you read The CNA? Are you thinking of switching teams?

Uh, since when does the source matter? I knew someone would take issue with the fact that it's Catholic. Did he say it, or not?

And what is the correct interpretation of Obama's words, oh he who is wiser than I?

Are you saying that an unintended teenage pregnancy is something that is a good consequence of premarital sex for the involved teen? This is something that should be celebrated? I would never have thought that you would react in such a fashion Lingo.

I guess you are excited about being a grandpa in about 10 years? Good for you.

I agree he probably would've done better to use a word like "consequence" rather than "punishment" if that's what he really meant.

Your question was directed at Triplet, but Cali regularly discounts sources with which he is not familiar: Wall Street Journal, Financial Times of London, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, among others.

The source of news? I think the source is faily important.

In this case, I am noticing that none of the major news outlets have picked up the story. It isnt even being discussed on FoxNews. So either you and the Catholic News Agency have scooped the world, or perhaps you and the Catholic News Agency are making something out of nothing.

It definitely appears as though he said it.

As for the correct interpretation, my guess is that he was referring not to the children themselves as a punishment, but I am only guessing. I have no specific insight into what he meant.

I said in my original post that it was technically possible that he was anti-kids.

You seem uppity. Are you stressed about finals or is something going on at home?
