Ran across this yesterday:

9 We do not believe it just to mingle religious influence with civil government, whereby one religious society is fostered and another proscribed in its spiritual privileges, and the individual rights of its members, as citizens, denied.
What do you think? Any bearing on our Prop 9 debate?

It would seem speaking out in favor of Prop 8 is contrary to what is in scripture. That's pretty clear to me.

I think it's just a restatement of the Establishment Clause.

I agree with SU; it's a broad principle that doesn't really have much to say about whether the Church should or shouldn't support something like Proposition 8.

You mean like using the government to propagate one church over others? Hardly the same thing as using moral beliefs that have a religious foundation to help mold laws which favor no one specific church over another.
