No problem. I hesitate to keep referring to the bad food example, as it clearly is so far beneath any feeling that could possibly be experienced by someone who was a victim of sexual abuse. I need to emphatically reassert that I am in no way trying to compare the two, other than on the most peripheral basis. I just think it is an experience most people can relate to, and extrapolate from. I know you haven't implied any problem with the poor comparison, but I want to be careful here not to trivialize the horrific experience that sexual abuse must be.

FWIW, I thought you were quite clear that you weren't debasing abuse to tossing cookies. :-D

I don't know about that. When I went to the wedding dinner of a teammate of mine from school, you should have seen the look of horror on his mother's face when another teammate brought a bottle of red wine to go with the white meat.

They are not thousands of miles apart. The decision to legalize same sex marriage came about first as a result of persuaive arguments in favor of broader definitions of personal liberties to be protected by law. The same arguements AND the decision to legalize same sex marriage were sited as precedence in arguments made on behalf of pedophiles who sought the lawfully protected right to own child pornography.

Had the the courts not been persuaded by arguments in favor of same sex marriage, and ruled to legalize same sex marriage such arguments and the decision could not have been used to persuade the courts to recognize a pedophiles right to own child porn.
