You say the sperm reference are your favorite--only if you mean most amusing.
His favorites had nothing to do with onanism, but the sufferings of Job and the feeling of being forsaken in the 22d Psalm.

How commonly do people use the term "onanism" in the English language?

I've only ever heard it used in Russian. But I probably don't read as much as Archaea.

I like 1st Kings 21:21 as anytime there is mention of taking a leak against a wall is ok by me, no matter the book.

It's in MoDoc. That's where I first read the term. I've always known it by the popular slang of coitus interuptus.

I wonder if the Onan story is the reason Tolstoy thought sexual intercourse should only occur if a couple if trying to make a baby. (IOW, Tolstoy didn't believe in ANY form of birth control, including coitus interruptus (although I wouldn't even call coitus interruptus a real form of birth control, since it doesn't work well).

It's a cool word I found in the eighth grade one day while I was reading the dictionary to prepare for English class.

The teacher inquired if the students could come up with words, unique, that began with "O". Of course, orgasm was the first word the students thought of, so I piped up with onanism. Nobody said anything as the teacher became beat-read.

Smart teacher. Probably pretty experienced as well.

So Adam is mixing me up with Sooner. Should I be flattered or insulted?

You wish to be confused with a master onanist?

It would be pretty hard to drink just enough wine that you weren't aware you were sleeping with your daughters but not so much that you could perform. I find it a little strange that he did it the next night also.
