Guess who said it.
"Then our souls had a previous existence,...before they took on this human shape; they were independent of our bodies; and they were possessed of intelligence."
"If death were a release from everything, it would be a boon for the wicked, because by dying they would be released not only from the body but also from their own wickedness together with the soul; but as it is, since the soul is clearly immortal, it can have no escape or security from evil except by becoming as good and wise as it possibly can. For it takes nothing with it to the next world except its education and training; and these, we are told, are of supreme importance in helping or harming the newly dead at the very beginning of his journey there." I'll give you the answer after several have voted. |

Don't know if I'll have time to get back on here today so here's the answer: Socrates. As quoted by Plato in Phaedo.
I was going through some of my old books last night and came upon Plato's "The last days of Socrates". I like to go through and look at all my underlinings and I found these 2 quotes. They sound pretty Mormon don't you think? The second one reminds me of Alma's speech to his son Corianton. |

And don't forget that So-crates also said, "Like sands through the hour glass, so are the days of our lives."
How true. |
