After this, I'll let it die, for the sakes of our gay rightists, hoya, fuz, seattle and homeboy.

Oh brother. This is my favorite part:

"The charge is made that President Bush is "again" using the issue of same-sex marriage to rally his base. But it is not the president who has made this a political issue. Those who would melt the glue of marriage, which has held societies together for millennia, are using the legal and political system for their own ends. In every state where same-sex marriage has been on the ballot, it has been decisively defeated. But like the war in Iraq, the "insurgents" in the culture wars believe all they must do is hang on long enough and the majority will surrender because protracted warfare interferes with our pursuit of pleasure and material consumption."

Ah yes, it is the gays that have once again made this an issue right before an election. When was the last time they made it an issue? Oh, that's right- just before the presidential election in 2003. How very odd that it hasn't been brought up until just now when it was an issue in October of 2003. I guess the gays stopped making it an issue for 3 years. How very convenient for Republicans that the gays have brought it all up again before the midterms!

Or perhaps my favorite part was when you said this isn't a popular position here...

I'm a "gay rightist"? OK. Given some of the language you have tossed around in the last two weeks, I am surprised you didn't say "queer lover". That shows some nice restraint on your part. ;-)
